How do we React to and Make Sense of Conflict and Crisis?

Publication: Panic and Mouring - The Cultural Work of Trauma (Hrsg. v. Agostinho, Daniela / Antz, Elisa / Ferreira, Cátia)

Weather as a direct reation to violent events (panic) or as a way to try to make sense out of violence in the aftermath of such events (mourning), human beings will draw from cultural patterns of meaning, from "traditions, memories and systems of belief" in order to manage. To show the reproduction of anxieties but moreover the knowledge generation within cultures that are related to violence, the authors adress the impact of panic and mourning on media, the arts and literature.
